12th AF - B25 - Warbirds - general
B25 - Yankee Warrior

Fully restored to flying condition this B25 was one of the aircraft allocated to the US 12th Air Force.

The 12th tends to have been put slightly in the shade due to all the publicity that surrounded the UK based ‘Mighty Eighth’. The 12th Air Force comprised 3 Bomber Groups, with 12 B25 Squadrons, and supported by no less than 8 Fighter Groups, with 24 P51 and P47 Squadrons. Mostly based in Corsica thus affording easy access to both the Italian and Southern France theatres these Squadrons made a huge contribution to the 1944/45 operations. Perhaps this image can help shine a little light on the largely neglected 12th’s operations.

The composite depicts a B25, in 489th Bomb Squadron codes, in a typical setting in it’s area of operations. Composite background from my archives and B25 photo from a Canadian airshow.
