5. B25J ‘Briefing Time’

The aircraft in the image is finished in the paint scheme of a B25 J serving with the 12th Air Force, 489th Bomb Squadron during the Italian campaign of WW2. Claimed to be the most completely restored B25, even to a full bomb load (hopefully inert), Briefing Time appears at many US and Canadian airshows.

A genuine workhorse of the worlds air forces the B25 served with 21 other countries air arms apart from the many Squadrons operational with the US forces. Famous for the ‘Doolittle’ raid early in the Pacific conflict where B25s were flown off an aircraft carrier to carry out a bombing mission (more symbolic than strategic) on Tokyo.

The base photograph was taken at a Canadian airshow in 2006.
