Just the last few feet to go for another mission chalked up. A B17 slips into land at Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, in 1943 after a long day’s operational flying. Airfield was a pre-war construction for the RAF and passed to USAF usage, 91st Bomb Group, in late 1942. Famous as the base that was home to the iconic Memphis Belle and many of the shots for the original film were taken at this location.
